CONSTITUTION
SQUARE. At
the centre of the town of Fray Bentos, is something of a
surprise for an english visitor. In the middle there is an cast
iron pergola, a copy of one exhibited at the Crystal Palace,
near London. It was built in England and transported to Uruguay
in 1902. This band stand is a reminder of the time when the
Liebig factory and the ANGLO frigo was the real commercial and
social life of Fray Bentos. |
